#media2012 has a pre-Games meet up this weekend as part of Future Everyting.  I made the journey over the Pennines to Manchester today to meet up with co-ordinator Jennifer Jones who introduced me to Alison Smith, the dynamic director of Pesky People, previously winners of an Inspring Voices awards from Media Trust.  Alison and I started a discussion about what links there might be between the "disability meets digital" organsiation and newsnet, discussions that we both want to keep going, particularly to see how we and possibly newsnet members can help their excellent www.gogenie.org idea.

Also got a chance to talk to Luke Seager of #media2012 West Midlands about a launch event he's planning at The Public in West Bromwich to get local people involved in telling community stories around the Games as the torch relay as it passes through the town.  As a longtime (former) Birmingham resident I'll be there be there to help with the training on behalf of newsnet and the duracell bunny that is John Coster @citizenseye will also be present.  If you live in the West Mids, take a look at their site for videos and info on the launch event.

The Clanger is a community newspaper and for those that don't live in Bedford but fancy having a look at it youcan read the May edition here.
And if you'd like to host a workshop in your area get in touch.

Thanks to all the #citizenrelay reporters that turned out for the training in Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh over the last four days.  If you haven't come across the #citizenrelay idea take a look at their site, it's a great initiative that will really get communities energised about telling their stories around the Olympic torch relay route and in turn feeds into the #media2012 citizen newswire. To understand how the training wortked, and how the reporters took to the experience, check out these videos from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Thanks to Tina Barton at @Somewhereto_EM, John Coster @citizenseye, Jennifer Jones @jennifermjones and Dr. David McGillivray @dgmcgillivray for an inspirational four days, and to those I connected with en route Station House Media Unit, Whale Arts Agency, and Phyllis Stephen at The Edinburgh Reporter, for their interest in newsnet. which we'll be building on over the coming weeks.
Take a look at Phyllis's report on the training for The Edinburgh Reporter here, in particular check out her Flickr pics for a look at Edinburgh Uni's quite amazing Inspace facility in George Square.
